Claire doesn't really take up too much to sum up for Resident Evil 2, but because I have this page to fill I'll try my best. :) She is very much in control of what is going on, and in the case of being with Sherry shows a mothering side to her, somewhat familiar to, and brought up in comments by, fans of *cough* Aliens. Being the case however she seems to be a very much more developed character in Resident Evil 2 than Leon is, at least in my opinion anyway. Also unlike Leon she just wishes to get out of Raccoon City, after finding her brother has already left town.
It is when she finds Sherry Birkin that things become more complicated for her however. Trying to battle her way out of Raccoon and caring for a young girl is not that easy, and perhaps there is a chance she may fail at it. At times also you will have to take over as Sherry to progress in the game. Sherry can't fight zombies or any other enemies obviously, so you have to dodge them. This for the most part is very easy for zombies and the dogs, but you can come up against the mutant cockroaches, which if your not careful cause an easy death for Sherry... umm but anyway, I'm getting off track now.
Claire's voice acting (provided by Alyson Court) is overly decent, probably the best constant acting in the game, and it is only in a few places it made me cringe (one being when she calls out Leon in the STARS office, as if he was a mile away even though he's actually only a few meters is one example). Alyson's voice suits Claire, and especially after Code Veronica I'm thankful that she can pull off some generally decent acting with it (not to say there aren't a few rough patches or just generally badly scripted dialogue).
Claire has a more general weapon arsenal to play around with, but that doesn't exactly mean it's not as good as Leon's. The Grenade Launcher is a nice weapon due to it's various rounds, and now the ability to load rounds when ever needed (instead of the style of the original game) makes it a great weapon to have. Even the lowly Bowgun can come into great use for some targets, so don't count it out to save you some better ammo later on when you really need it.
Claire appears in her own epilogue of the various the epilogues of Resident Evil 3 (and if I remember it correctly is also mentioned in Sherrys one too) and is the main character of Resident Evil Code Veronica, where she has taken on a much stronger role after 3 months. I think someone has been taking pointers from Sarah Connor from T2 and putting them into turbo action. :)
Claire is back again after surviving the Umbrella onslaught in Raccoon City. Nearly 3 months after the events there, she breaks into Umbrella's Paris lab where, after being involved in a lengthy chase (shown in the brilliant opening movie), she is caught. 10 days later she is taken to the Rockfort Island, an island owned by Umbrella somewhere off the coast of South America used for Umbrella squad training and its prison facility, and this is where you will play the game.
Although Resident Evil 2 showed a mothering side of her, Claire is her usual tomboyish self throughout most of Code Veronica. Of course Steve doesn't need any mothering so there is no need to worry about that coming up again. :-) Much like the large focus put on Claire's role, you can guess that she takes up a majority of the play time contained in Code Veronica.
Once again Claire has a more general weapon arsenal to play around with during the first part of the game that you play as her, but because any weapon can actually be shared between the two major characters there isn't any real strong values to the weapons she can get.
Even though her main target is now to escape Rockfort Island, Claire was and still is on a mission to find her brother Chris. The real question is who will find the other first?
