Leon Scott Kennedy. Leon tends to be the first played in RE2, and I am still yet to figure out why. He was for myself because of the coverage I had of him from the demo which came with Resident Evil Directors Cut. Against what the official info says I don't find Leon to be reckless or brash, it seems the people around him are so much more often, usually not listening to him at all even though being the last remaining police officer of the RPD puts him in a higher position. The problem with Leons character is he takes things for granted easily, and can never see behind a person, always taking them at face value, something that will cause problems to him in the end perhaps.
As Resident Evil 2 has a tad more character development most of the characters seem to have a lot more about them, but Leon isn't that way so as much until Ada steps into the picture as you explore the Raccoon Police Department. When that happens you'll see a lot more of how Leon reacts to situations (albeit with Capcom's repetitive arm throwing animation's which serve nothing more than to make you laugh in the middle of perhaps a serious scene).
Leon has what I feel as the easier part of the game (though some may disagree and other think that there is pros and cons to each of the two major characters in Resident Evil 2), due to the large amounts of heavy firepower and weapon upgrades he manages to gain throughout his adventures in the game. Actually all the weapons Leon gets, except for the Flame-thrower and the combat knife, make killing an ease. During the game with Leon, in various parts you will also control Ada Wong as she gains access to areas which Leon doesn't. This will gain you items or spark scenes which will move the game forward.
Leon later appears in some of the epilogue files of Resident Evil 3, is mentioned in Code Veronica, and as a major surprise element (if you can call it that) sent Ark Thompson on his mission in Resident Evil Survivor, which Ark will remember near the end of the game. With him being invoved with some shady unexplained things/offers/dealings in his epilogue of Resident Evil 3, we shall have to wait and see what/who it is Leon is dealing with. With Resident Evil 4 becoming closer to release, I hope we will find this info out very soon.
